  • Work Day – Tackling Sumac This Sunday 7/26 at Revis!

Hey there Revis Hill Prairie Stewards!

Earlier this month we began cutting and treating sumac stumps on the southernmost stretch of the western sand prairie, and also treated woody re-sprouts in the newly cleared “kickoff” area. Stewards also represented the group the night before at the monthly Mason City Mingle, spreading the word about this important team effort with the local community!

This Sunday, July 26th from 8:30 to noon, we’ll tackle the larger sumac clone invading the prairie further upslope. This project promises an inspiring and instantly gratifying before-and-after, and is an important step in restoring biodiversity to this lovely prairie.

Join in to work, learn and lead together — and tell a friend!

Plan to wear long sleeves that you don’t mind getting dirty, and bring loppers and work gloves if you have them (if you don’t, these can be provided). Bug spray or pre-treated clothes to ward off ticks are highly recommended. Bring water to stay hydrated, and a snack to share is always welcome!
